Day 5: Extra push on levels, a game over screen, and a credits screen

Day 5

2 days left before the game jam has ended. So today, I put some extra work on the levels. On Day 3 and 4, I made both 5 levels on each day. Today, I made 8 just to push myself a bit far. My goal currently was making 24 levels right before the game jam ends. All I need is 6 levels left. I was thinking of making around 50 levels just to make the players seem that the game is endless, but I think this is already enough.

Then I remembered that my game haven't added a game over screen. The game is over when the player has ran out of timer. So I did some small animations on making a boulder falling, which are just circles with random size falling, and finally a dark fade transition to go to the game over screen. It's just nothing but a screen showing that the game is over and a level to show how far the player has been.

I also made a credits layout to show who are involved with the game and their roles. I also include the assets I've borrowed, such as the fonts, the canyon tileset, and finally the gems. Also, at this phase I'm reaching the Lazy Phase, which is the phase that I'm too tired to make more assets for the game. So both the game over screen and the credits screen will transition back to the menu with a black fade with just a click of the button.

So, what's next? I've done gameplay mechanics, game menus, and now all I need is just to design levels, export it to HTML5 and NW.js (so people can play it offline too) and finally some playtest by several people. Let's get this done before the game jam ended!

Also, I changed the name of the game from Gems Hunter to Gems Seeker. Well, I joined Vimlark's Discord Server and then noticed someone with a similar name of mine, called Gem Hunter by hugopeeters. I don't want people to get confused just because of my name has one letter more than his doesn't mean that one of us is copying. So I changed to Gems Seeker. Also, it feels a bit nice.
